Children's Sunday School 10:00 a.m.
The children's Sunday school class is currently being taught by Crystal Coonce. They are using curriculum from Young Explorers from Gospel Publishing House. Their current unit is called New Frontiers: Lessons from Joseph and Moses.
During this unit each child will-
- learn that like being a pioneer, being a Christian can be full of adventures and challenges.
- discover ways to make good choices and stay on course, even when it's difficult.
The unit key verse is: "Ask where the good way is, and walk in it." -Jeremiah 6:16
Often, when we're faced with decisions, we take the easiest route. We choose the path of least resistance, and do what we see everyone else doing. Even the Israelites, God's chosen people, had this tendency. In fact, this was one of the reasons they had so many problems! They would serve God for a while but would eventually get involved in the idol worship, and pagan customs of other nations.
Even though the Israelites made many mistakes, God patiently taught them that living as godly people means adopting a lifestyle different from the secular world.
During this unit, the children in the group will be following the foibles and triumphs of the Israelites from Joseph's journey to Egypt until the Exodus 400 years later. The children will learn what it means to serve God. The children will also learn that, even when the Israelites turned their backs on God, He never gave up on them. God's incredible promise is to always love us and guide our lives.
